Lots of "family" breeders sell their pups in newspapers. Things are different in different parts of the country. people here sell six week old pups every day. Go with your gut regardless of what people may say. If the price is right for your budget and you can go see the parents and how the puppy is kept, then you will be alright. I think some people expect too much from breeders. They expect the breeder to do all the testing and etc and then sell them a puppy for 400-500 dollars. While no one want s to sell a sick puppy and certainly no one wants to buy one, some of the demands a few people are placing on breeders these days is ridiculous. So, again, go with your gut. You are the only one that can make that choice. P.S. mine don't leave until twelve weeks so I don't condone leaving at six or seven weeks but in some regions they do and are fine.
