How much are they asking for the puppy? I think that if you go to the house you will get a good sense right away about the people and the environment that the puppy is in. That will be an immediate indication as to whether or not you should pursue it any further. I did the same thing here when I began my search for a puppy....we don't have a penny saver but it was similar. I went to the house and it was rather run-down and the lady that was selling the puppy was a bit "out there" if you know what I mean. She tried to tell me that the puppy was only 4 months old but it was obviously much older and I didn't get a good feeling about it at all.

Like the above post says...trust your gut. It may be a good situation and that puppy would be very lucky to get to go to a good home with you. I would give it a shot and see....you'll know if it is right or not.
