Unfortunately shipping charges are high. Not necessarily because the company jacks them up, but the USPS and others have really seemed to sky rocket lately. I am sure that with gas the way it is it will probably be even more soon.
As a vendor myself who makes no money on shipping I still wince when sending out an invoice where shipping can be nearly as expensive as what you are buying. It is just a fact of life, I guess, but I still hate to see it.
It might be good to know that the more stuff you buy the cheaper per item the shipping usually turns out to be because USPS usually starts high with the base amount, but every pound after that is at a cheaper rate. So if you are going to be buying more than one thing (from the same company) try to do it at the same time and the shipping will be much less than if you bought them separately.
