On my favorite gardening show, Gardening by the Yard, the expert say that it takes a couple of years to get it going. I've always wanted to try one myself but never had the patience. My neice gave my sister an bonsai azalea. It is really pretty. I have managed to kill 2 that were given to me-dried them to a crisp! Good luck and have fun with it.
