I was anemic after surgery,and I got b-12 shots for iron deficiency. It's gradual,it's not immediate. It also depends on the severity of your anemia. I have absorbtion issues because I had gastric bypass surgey,so you absorb everything differently. I recieved them for 9-12 mo before I could do oral iron.
