Yes, things can go wrong from whelping to the next. The one thing that happened most often is a puppy getting stuck sideways blocking the birth canal. This can happen when a puppy will leave one horn and start up the other horn. This has happened to me twice and both times it was the last puppy to be born that did it. I know another person that had it happen to them. The female had 2 pups, kept pushing for hours, she took her to the vet the next morning and one pup was stuck sideways in the birth canal. The vet was able to work the puppy out but it was dead and then the bitch delivered another live puppy. |
