For the life of me I couldn't understand why so many yorkie breeders are also breeding chinese crested. Duh the light finally went on. What better way to get "hairless" yorkies than to cross breed them with the already hairless chinese crested.

Personally I'm fed up to the teeth with the never ending quest for "designer" breeds.

I love the breed, always have, always will and wish I was in the position to protect them all. I believe part of the problem is that the AKC is considering giving legitimacy to these designer dogs which only further encourages experimentation. Yorkies are distinquished in part by their coat so I don't see how making them hairless improves anything.

I think it is high time that those with purebred registered yorkies get busy with a letter writing campaign to the AKC, the CKC etc demanding that the breed standard remain the same and that "variations" not be considered. It is the only way to protect the integrity of the breed.
