I was told to watch out for the hawks, too. My neighbor mentioned that she had heard that one got a small pet in our neighborhood one time, but she didn't know the details.
Then this week a friend at work (her daughter has a Yorkie) said they saw a hawk snatch a squirrel from their back deck, take it up high and then dropped it killing it for dinner!
We live in the suburbs (she's in a condo community) so it TOTALLY freaked her out!! We're not used to 'the wilds'. She said the squirrel was about the size of their Yorkie...
