I use a large ex-pen. Inside I have a crate with the door open, pee pads on the floor and lots of toys, as well as food and water. Creating a secure "room" helps the baby feel safe while you are away. When Gracie was really little, I tried to come home on my lunch breaks to feed her some wet food and check in on her. I quickly discovered that she slept most of the day. I did leave a radio on with a talk station that she could listen to so she did not feel so alone. If you can have a friend or dog-walker come in and check and play with the baby once during the day, that would be a good thing.
