i think my peanut has fleas. i noticed the black "flea dirt" on her neck underneath her collar and was appalled because she has been on sentinel for about 6 months now. i learned quickly, though, that sentinel only sterilizes the fleas and does not kill them. my vet recommended then that i also put on a topical to kill the fleas. i put on advantage earlier today. the dosage was for under ten pounds and peanut is about 10 pounds exactly.
tonight, about 10-12 hours later, she is still itching. i looked at her joints and under her legs, between her legs and saw nothing. then, twice, i looked at the lighter colored fur on her head. both times i saw a quickly moving insect. it was running really fast and it startled me both times i saw it. i feel like it was bigger than a flea, but i don't know for sure. i HATE bugs and so it made me really squeamish. there aren't any vets open tomorrow, naturally...
any suggestions? i am so grossed out!
