my yorkie was very nearly house broken when i got him, he's just about 18 months now. He's only gone in his kennel once, but i believe that was because he didn't go outside when he had been taken on a walk, and was crated for the rest of the night so he wouldn't have an "accident" in the house. There have been no other crate-accidents since.
My lab however, we've had since she was eight weeks old and potty training was going about the same with her, getting up every morning to poo everywhere. One day, when we'd had enough of it, she was actually left in the mess for a few hours while we went about our day. That stopped the going-in-the-crate issue, FAST.
People may think we're mean for using those particular methods, but we only had to do it once. I believe that its a dominance thing, telling your dog where and when to potty. And cleaning them as soon as you notice the mess may be counter productive. And, just for the sake of sakes.... i'm no expert! |
