It could easily be a food allergy.
A couple of my dogs of another breed had really bad skin reactions to some foods.
The best food here for it that's widely available is James Wellbeloved. Get the Lamb & Rice one as that's the best to clear skin reactions.
It's available in small bags, as well as big, so you could try it out.

If you have a branch of Pets At Home near you, they let you have small trial bags free of most of the dry foods they sell. There's usually a small bin in the aisle where they keep the dried dog foods that you can just help yourself to, but the staff will help if you can't see one. You can take as many as you like, but have them scanned at the till. They won't charge for them but it stops the alarm going off at the door if you try to leave!
