You can go ahead and start trimming the ears. If you're uncomfortable doing it, you may want to use a groomer but it's really pretty easy. We use a beard trimmer on the inside and outside surfaces and use scissors for the edges. The trimmer can catch along the edge and tear the ear so that's why we use the scissors there. Since his ears aren't standing, trim back past the point where they flop. Once they stand, most keep the ears trimmed about 1/3 of the way down. I've had good luck with the moleskin. Just cut a piece to fit the inside of the ear. Make sure you cut it big enough to get beyond the flop. It's easier to use the first one to make a template to cut others out once you get a good fit. The moleskin will stick by itself and with it only being on the inside of the ear, it's harder for the pup to get it off compared to tape. You'll probably want to have someone hold him while you trim because they do tend to squirm. Try to do it when the pup is relaxed and not all rarin' to go.
