It's hardwood and beautiful. The thicker one we couldn't get because the foundation to our floors are cement, and the thick wood has to be nailed down, but you can't tell the difference in the color, so that's a plus. We did a LOT of research on flooring before deciding on real wood. We talked to four people who have laminate and all said they regretted getting it because it tracks so bad and it makes a tacking sound when walking on it.
If you do go with a dark floor, you may want to paint your walls white.
Anyway this is the name and color we chose: Company is called Bruce. Name is Springdale model # EB526, Butterscotch. It's so warm and cozy looking but not dark. It's a special order so we were told today it will be here in two weeks.
