I would suggest to start by adding colors to your walls. I would also suggest to enlarge the fireplace surrounds with either shallow decorative display cases this will make the wall you focal point.

I would also suggest to search for a large carpet that has the colors you like and use that as your color pallet when searching for paint colors, pillows and accessories.

We are going to redo the fireplace surround. The one in our family-the white one in the living room is a Gel fireplace and the brown one in my upstairs landing is a electric one!
