As far as when can he go outside, if you start vaccinating really late (after about 16 weeks) he could probably go out with only one round. The only reason multiple rounds have to be given is because they interfere with maternal antibiodies and both the vaccine and the maternal antibodies are "useless". If you start vaccinating later the dog doesn't have any maternal antibodies and the vaccine will "take". Some vets would say to give two rounds just to be sure. So it isn't so much how many rounds but it is about when they are started and if they take. Giving two rounds at about 16-20 weeks would be plenty but some vets will insist on three. So while your pup would probably be fully protected about one week after the first round of vaccines as long as they are given after 16 weeks, I would do at least two rounds before going outside just to be sure. I hope this isn't confusing.
