I have been told that coloring your hair when you are pregnant can upset a pregnant womans senses, since we are so sensitive to smell anyway. I have also been told that many times, the pregnancy hormones can cause the color to react differently and the color might not "take" or it might be "off" or something like that. I was reassured by my dr. that it does not hurt the baby at all...it is just up to the individual if they want to risk getting nauseated or the color not turning out quite right. Or if you are doing bleach, it might take a lot easier and you could end up burning your hair really bad...so you have to watch it closely.
maybe "back in the day" hair colors were made differently and it was advised that pregnant women not risk it. but I think that things have changed a lot over the years and it is much safer than it used to be.
