You may have to continue to feed her by hand...We often sit by the whelping box and hand feed new mommas...They do not like to get up and out of the box...She will eventually start to eat on her own...Soft food has a lot of water in it and will take care of some of her water intake...

You can also offer her fresh cold water while she is in her box!...If she will not take the water from the bowl, use a syringe filled with water and feed it to her that way...

Also take her temp twice a day for several weeks following whelping!..It is the first indication that trouble is brewing...
