Don't overdo it, smaller the dog, smaller the dose. You can even put a drop or two on your fingers first and rub it on the gums or let her lick it off your finger if you are nervous. I am only wary of the version with alcohol as far as ill effects - I wouldn't use it on an unhealthy dog without consulting a vet...
