All I can say is Good Luck. I'm currently lookign for a job in the field of Marketing. I began my search in Feburary adn have yet to find anything. I've applied countless times and mass sent out my resume with cover letters to major businesses in my area. I also am a member of monster.com and have sent applications and my resume through the online portals.
I graduated in 2007 from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Communications and began working as a Marketing Assistant at a large defense company in June 2007. Unfortunately, I had only planned to be employed for a year because I was planning to apply and attend law school this coming fall. But have since changed my mind. But my current employer will not be able to keep me employed past August. Thus my job search.
Honestly, I think especially in today's job market and weak economy, your best bet is to find jobs via connections. Even if it's not a close connection. I've spoken to a Head Hunter and he told me that online portals really aren't the way to go, that it's best to physically send your resume and cover letters to potential employers, but a lot of times it's not always possible to find out there contact information.
I wish you the best of luck, and hey if you have any luck please share your advice, as I am too desperately searching for a job.

Now I do have some connections but not many... I was just wondering if anyone had advice on how to find a good job?? Like, where should I look (I also keep hearing that sites like Monster are no good)? I have also been checking local newspapers and craigslist but a lot of jobs seem like scams... I just want a good job!!
ANY advice would be appreciated bc I am pretty scared I won't find a job and I will have to move back home to El Paso (yuck).
I currently live in central Texas and I would love to find a job somewhere in Austin, Dallas, or Houston.
Thanks for any responses!! |
