Personally... I think you should call and not ask for an earlier interview outright but just let the Hiring person know that filled out an application and eager for the interview. ... You know call and say....

I wanted to let you know that I am very eager to interview for this position as I have heard great things about working for your company. I know with my ability to catch on quickly, reliability, and people skills that I would be an asset to the company. When do you think I could come in for an interview?
