completely understand this. My hair is so peculiar, that it turns off colors if the person who colors it doesn't know what they're doing. Even though I would tell them, it's almost as if they didn't take me seriously. After the birth of my first child, my hormones went nuts. After the second one - forget about it! It took me several years (at the expense of green, yellow & orange hair!) in Germany to finally find someone who did a great job. It cost about 100 Euro to get 3 colors put in and I tipped him between 30-40 Euro. He was GOOD & because of that, he was a very busy man. I wanted to be sure he would 1) Remember me & 2) get me in when I needed in. Worked for me! Although, I don't think I could afford to pay 35-40% on a $400 job, but I know the COL and the pay rates are much higher in NYC than many other places.
