We've boarded many times and have had relatives watch our pups over the years. Since ours are both young (5 months) we're boarding them when necessary until they are completely housebroken.
We've boarded at a variely of kennels and they were always fine when we picked them up, though sometimes they've come home very smelly. The last time we found a free-roaming doggie daycare that will keep them long term. They are in a small baby-gated room at night, just our 2 pups together, then allowed out to play with the other pups during the day (if they want to, they don't have to). This weekend we have to board them 2 nights, and I feel fine leaving them there.
I suggest you go check the places out that find. Vets often board, too. Prices around here (Ohio) vary from 15 to 25 a night. Good luck and don't worry, they will be fine!
