Rescues and breeders are looking out for the puppy's (and ultimately your) best interest in not placing a pup in a home with a small child. The risk of injury is too great with small dogs. I occasionally have a larger pup that I would consider for a home with a small child but never a small Yorkie. Perhaps you can find a breeder that has a larger pup from time to time and see if they would consider such a pup for you. The larger Yorkies are all Yorkie but are much more robust and less injury prone. Check out some of the 'Teapots' here to see just how adorable they can be.
