Since you don't plan on buying a yorkie for another yr or 2, I would continue to research and find breeders that are willing to sell a yorkie to you with a small child. There is a breeder section here and I am sure there are some members located in NC that maybe able to help you find a good breeder. I would not purchase a puppy from a pet store. My first dog came from one but I wasn't aware of puppy mills at the time.
. I think you have plenty of time to find a yorkie.
