I would not use a slicker brush on your baby...This can break the hair and is not an optimal brush for yorkies or maltese. You'll end up with not nice looking hair. Try to find a good pin brush without the little balls on the end because those little balls break the hair as well. Remember to only brush a wet coat not a dry one. If you brush her hair between baths, spray some detangling spray or leave-in conditioner spray and then brush.
I like to use Coat Handler shampoo and conditioner. It leaves their hair shiny and very nice. It does not have a strong smell, which is important for me.
