Thanks so much for your responses Julia and Meggie.
I began doing some research on the breed following my first posting and have discovered that she isn't such a heavyweight after all .... just as you point out Meggie, the historical background on the breed illustrates this is not an abnormal weight for a Yorkie. Many thanks. I am off to see two little girl puppies this morning - as Pepsi is now 10 years old I want to extend the family and have her influence the pups because she is such a fab dog.
