Default My Experience with Ace Yorkies aka Tiger Kennel

Well, well, well, where do I begin? I purchased my second yorkie from Tiger Kennel in January 2008. I found Tiger Kennel through the Recycler on the internet and chose them because I wanted to see the puppies (listed price $800). I spoke to the nephew of the breeder and told him approx. what time I would be arriving to see the puppies. He seemed to have all the appropriate answers and allowed me to walk around. Of course I fell in love with a puppy and purchased her. I was given food, Nutri-Cal, shot record, and her "papers". The first couple of days were great but I think it was the third day, I noticed the puppy was very lethargic and had diarrhea. I called the breeder and he advised me the puppy was probably nervous and if it continued to the next day, take her to the vet. Well that evening she started vomitting, so I immediately took her to the emergency vet because it was the weekend. The vet tested her for parvo and it was positive. The vet was very optimistic because he felt we caught it in time. So the puppy stayed at the emergency vet and they immediately started the IV. I contacted the breeder the next morning and told him she had parvo. He was very surprised. He said to bring him back the puppy and he'll take her to his vet who he has a contract with and has had very could results. I said only if the hospital felt she would be strong enough to move. The hospital advised me she was strong enough, but she had to be taken to the next vet immediately and continue with her fluids. We picked up the puppy and immediately transported her to the breeder. I was very encouraged because she was a lot stronger than the day before. He promised me he would take her straight to his vet. He gave me the name and number of the vet and said I could call or visit her any time. So the next day, Monday, I went to visit her and she was sooo weak. The vet mentioned she had just gotten there that morning. OMG, I was so upset. I called my husband crying and told him to call the breeder. The breeder said there was a mix-up; he took her to the other vet who then took her to that hospital. The next morning, I called before I was going to visit and they advised me my puppy passed away. I couldn't believe it. My husband started dealing with the breeder because I was so upset. The breeder said we could pick any puppy he had as a replacement or get our money back. He said none of the other puppies had any symptoms. I really wanted a puppy. . .so I chose a replacement, and he also gave us $250, which was half of our emergency vet bill. So after sanitizing our home with bleach and throwing everything away that belonged to the first puppy, we brought home Molly (after taking her to two different vets for wellness check). Now, after a few days of having Molly, I noticed she had a little potbelly and her poop was kind of loose. I contacted the breeder and he gave me a list of different things it could be; one being worms but she had been dewormed. Well, my husband took her to the vet and requested she be tested for worms and she came back positive for round worm. Arrrgh! Molly will be 7 mos. on the 14th and we've had no other health problems. As for the registration, it is that purebreed database or something, which I didn't even bother with. And I was told about the uncle having cancer and the aunt taking over and the family giving him puppies to help him out (because apparently other members of the family were breeders also).

My searches regarding parvo and round worm always lead me to Yorkie Talk. So shortly thereafter I registered as a YT user and have since learned so much.

Hindsight is 20/20.
