Many breeders will tell you that the puppies are AKC illegible, but buyers don't find out this is not true until they try to register. If a breeder is telling you that it's so expensive for you –BEWARE- it's less than $20.00 for a buyer, and he probably doesn't have the proof he needs, or he may be producing enough puppies per year that would require an inspection. Even if you aren't planning to breed or show your dog your registration fee helps support the AKC inspection, and this will help eliminate some of the poorer breeders. So it's not just about the dog you are buying, but all dogs.

Regarding the CKC, I don't understand why you would register, what are you supporting?
hi, i meant ckc as in the canadian equivlency as someone mentioned...
so pretty much, if you're dog is not registered by the breeder you can't register it?
i remember when i bought my mickey i went somewhere to register him and paid $50 CDN. but i never recieved any forms from the breeder nor did i really care about it. i was just happy to be getting a puppy (i was 9)
now i'm trying to figure out if akc and ckc (cdn version) is worth looking into. cuz i don't plan on breeding or showing at all.
