Mylie came into the hospital last week with a broken right elbow. She had a family at this time. The husband told the wife that we should just get rid of her and he would buy her a new one. But the wife was like no way, we're keeping her. The wife loves her. So they paid the bill and we fixed her elbow and she went home. Then this past wednesday she came in again. This time she had a broken left elbow. The wife was very upset. She said nothing traumatic happened this time to warrant the left elbow breaking. She put down the deposit so we could fix the leg. she called back again 5 times after that hysterically upset. Finally she called and said they wanted to sign her over to us because she was too much for them to handle. The family always had big dogs and they didn't understand that a tiny dog was so hugely different in their care. The husband came down and signed her over. I immediately said i wanted her.
So thrusday we took some new x-rays and found that her fracture was terrible and the surgeon didn't know if he could fix her. He took her in to surgery to see what was going on, if he couldn't fix her we would have to amputate her leg. Well after two hours he finished her surgery and was quite pleased with what he did. I took her home friday after work.
She is very well behaved for a puppy. She is very good about going outside to potty. She does cry in her crate but i don't blame her. She has to spend a lot of time in there because of the two freshly repaired front legs. No running, jumping, or playing allowed. No stairs, furniture, or beds. She is to sit in her crate, go outside to potty and spend a little while out of her crate with me and morgan. nothing else. its very hard for a puppy but it has to be done.
The repairs do not bother her at all. She is on antibiotics and metacam only. No other pain meds are needed. I put a long sleeved shirt on her and took the e-collar off. so far so good.
i'll have more pictures soon.
