Welcome to Yorkietalk! I felt the same way when I got Joey, I just thought he was so cute, but after I looked into the matter more, I realized it wasn't such a good idea. Your pet's personality will change quite a bit and they won't be your baby anymore. Not only that, yorkies are harder to breed than larger dogs and mothers often need cesarean sections, an expensive and dangerous procedure. Yorkies have been so over bred, and many are carriers for serious hereditary disorders that don't show up in the parents, but show up in the puppies, and this is a heartbreaking ordeal. So it's important to have your dog and it's mate tested for certain hereditary diseases before you decide to mate. After you do all the research, I think you will find like many of us, that yorkies are great pets, but you should probably leave the breeding to the professionals.
