What an awful position to be in. Of course, you did the right thing, but I can totally understand how you feel. I am a manager, so I can definitely see both side of most issues (as an employee and a member of management). The good thing is that a fair and impartial investigation will be done. No one will be unjustly persecuted. But if there is evidence of wrong-doing, it will be addressed. Yes, as a manager, I would hate that someone initiated an investigation - BUT I believe that I have an open (AND FAIR) enough relationship with all of my staff that they bring those issues to me before HR has to get involved. That is your boss' responsibility that she has not created that environment.
Yes, you definitely did the right thing, even though I can understand your second thoughts and anxiety. They should interview several people and as long as people are honest, everything will work out the way it should. Just hate that it has to cause you stress in the meantime.
