Try Chantrix (prescription) I've been using it and it totally blocks the nicotine receptors in your brain so what's the use. Eventually you get tired of trying and you quit, it's working wonders for me and I have been smoking since I was 12 and I am 43. I have always smoked around my dogs and never noticed any problems. My Dachsunds lived to be 17 and 16 but that's no excuse. You probably should not smoke around them anyway. If your friend wants to I guess that's her business.
