Dogs under three pounds often suffer from hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is common in puppies because they have not fully developed the ability to regulate their blood glucose concentration and have a high requirement for glucose. Stress, cold, malnutrition, and intestinal parasites are problems that may precipitate a bout of juvenile hypoglycemia. Toy breed dogs less than three months of age are most commonly affected. Symptoms include drowsiness, shivering, collapsing, disorientation, seizures, listlessness, depression, muscle weakness, white gums, and tremors. Not all the symptoms will necessary be shown. For more information see: Hypoglycemia Symptoms and Treatment | Yep i agree it also cause extreme highs then an extreme low when it wears off your goal should be to keeps sugar levels steady with complex carbs...not a quick high (unless she is shaky wobbly etc.) Diggy had seizures from Hypo....and they need to be watched closely....help their bodies maintain and level out not ups and downs. I gave cheerios as treats when Diggy was a baby. It helps A LOT!!!
