I personally don't think the eye color is truely accurate for coats. I think camera angle and lighting play an important role in the eye color to be honest.
Here's a picture of one of the puppies I kept from a previous litter and she has a silky coat that doesn't tangle easily. This is Keisha when she was younger and both these pictures were taken only a few days apart:
