But if you take the dog out and we see it we are required by FAA regulations to tell you to put it back in the bag under your seat. It is an FAA rule, because of health rules, and the airline and the flight attendants can get fined. I know it is a stupid rule because we don't serve much food anymore for health rules but I don't want to get a fine or lose my job!! That is why some will be so adamant about it!! I see it from both sides since I travel with my dogs too!! I always wrap my bag in a blanket before I put it under the seat because one of the main reasons that dogs cry is because it is really cold on the floor. Also it makes the kennel dark and they can't see you to cry. Usually mine will then curl up and go to sleep. I've traveled with them for 17 years and usually have a positive experience by doing that! Hope this explains those "nasty" flight attendants!!
Yes, I totally understand it is flight attendant's job to follow the rules even if they don't agree with them... I just felt so bad bc my dog was crying and bothering all the other passengers around me... and the only way I knew to make her stop, I wasn't allowed to do... So you have to think, break the rules and make her stop crying or follow the rules and make the flight more enjoyable for EVERYONE.
