When I took Oscar for his neuter, they wanted to keep him overnight, and I explained to them that I would prefer to have him home with me, where he would be much more comfortable and happy. I pointed out to them that it made no sense for him to be there with no vets there through the night, whereas I would be home with him and able to watch him. They agreed, and I took him home at the end of the day. A different vet did the same thing with Ruthie - wanted to keep her, but again, I took her home. Both dogs were perfectly fine.

Put your foot down - it's YOUR dog, tell them you'll sign whatever waivers they want, but she's going home with you. If anything, have them do the surgery as early as possible in the morning so that you can pick her up at the end of the day before they close. That should give her plenty of time to wake up and for them to get a feel for her status.
