I started with thinning shears. One side looks like a comb and the other side is sharp. They allowed me to get over being nervous about cutting the hair and helped Sophie get used to the process. I doubt you can cut the whole body with the thinning shears because it would take forever. Then I moved up to knuckle cutting with regular shears. That created a shaggy puppy cut but took a while and it was more uneven than shaggy. Now I use clippers and cut her hair 1 inch all over in the winter and 1/2 inch on her body in the summer...keeping her face and feet shaggy. You can do it yourself...plus their hair grows so fast a bad haircut grows out fast
