Does anyone know about a collapsed larynx Hello everyone I am new to the site. I have 4 little yorkie females and 2 tiny male studs. I have a little 2 1/2 lb female that I have been having a problem with. About 3 weeks ago she started having this strange cough and acting like she was gagging. I took her to the vet and we thought she might have kennel cough. He gave her a shot. It did absolutely nothing for her. He had given her some cough medicine so I continued to try that. The following week I called the vet and took her back in. We decided that since none of the other dogs had gotten it that it wasn't kennel cough. He gave her another shot of something else that he said would stay in her system and work for seven days and some kind of cough pills. By the next day I was calling him back and telling him nothing had happened. Actually it seemed worse. He told me he would perscribe an antibiotic and to give it to her for seven days. That time is almost up and she still doesn't seem much better. The part I forgot to tell you is that a day prior to all this happening, Gabbie had gotten her collar stuck in her mouth and probably stayed like that for several hours before I found her. She probably had been fighting it and sucking in air. I mentioned it to the vet and he said it could be a collapsed larynx but that he would treat her with the same procedure anyway. She is eating good and acts very healthy and of course when I bring her to the vet she never coughs. Has anyone had this experience before? Any help would be appreciated. Here are two of my little ones. Roscoe is the first picture and Gabby is the second one. |
