I didnt have issues with the whining in the crate....but just ignore him. When there is a lull of whining for about 30 straight or so....praise him and let him out (if you want). Soon he will know that whining gets him nothing and queit may get him out to be with you.

Stick to your guns on this one...totally ignore his whining.
