The normal heat cycle is 21 days from the first sign of bleeding. You should keep your male and female apart for at least 21 days or a little longer. What Lee's (TeddyandTiffy) female had was a split heat where the female had like two heat's back to back so she had to keep her dogs separated longer. Split heat are not very common, in nearly 12 years of raising yorkies, I have never experienced one in my female.

Having another male around to keep you male company would not work to settle him down. Then you would have two crying males.LOL
