Knowing your dates and doing alot of research are very important. You have to be prepared for every possible scenario, Yorkies are so delicate so knowing all of the details are important. Making your Dam feel comfortable is probably the hardest not so much in a material way but being able yourself to maintain a calm, relaxed state of mind amidst such anticipation. Our experience (being our first) for the most part went smooth with no complications. You must be there to help your Dam out as much as she needs, our puppies came in hour/hour and half intervals so we pretty much sat by her side all night. The hardest part was/has been after the puppies were born and the care and observation both the mother and puppies need at all times. We have a small mother at about 4.5lbs and a big challenge was keeping her hydrated and fed so she could maintain sufficient milk production. Anyway if you have anymore questions let us know and good luck. |
