The Prius is a great family car, and a great road car. It's not just about saving money on gas, it is about preserving the environment and reducing our dependence on oil. The Prius generates it's own power by charging its battery powered engine. It has two engines, one battery, one gas. In the Prius, the gas engine assists the electric motor. In the Civic, it is the other way around. The Civic hybrid gets about half the mpg that the Prius does. In comparing the two, the Prius IMO is the better value.
