I got two puppies this year and have been living in Potty Training H-ll for almost 12 straight months. DON'T WORRY! It will be ok. You just got him, he will settle in.
Remember - he isn't doing this to you, he is just a baby and hasn't learned yet. At three-five months of age they only have a few second delay between when they feel the urge to go and when the little bladder releases! He'll get it. My 14 month old Cavalier and my 8 month old Yorkie finally are potty trained. But, if I am not there to keep to our schedule, I still have puppy accidents happen. They need to mature. I know its hard to stay patient. I accidently fell asleep napping with my puppy when he was 4 1/2 months old (I was so exhausted from midnight potty runs!) and I woke up covered in pee. I was SO upset. I thought I would never get him potty trained and I was destined to live in puppy urine for the rest of my life. Don't worry, it gets better.
And in the meantime, to deal with daytime separation anxiety, I use Rescue Remedy by Dr. Bach (available at Whole Foods and other natural stores) and give a few drops straight in the mouth before crating. It totally works to relax them and help them get to their nappies so they don't freak out. And while your at it, add 10 drops to a cup of Chamomile Tea for yourself to help your stress! It works!
It'll be ok!!!! Hang in there!
