That's a really sad story. Perhaps he is a one dog only kinda guy.
He may thrive in a household with him as the only pup. I don't know
what else to say to you. I feel for you, really. It must be awful to
want to play and squeese him and know he's not happy with that.
Being so shy maybe he dosen't want the competion and just a family
to his own who loves just him.
