If the test comes back abnormal and the vet suspects that he has an operable liver shunt, then:
If you are considering giving him to someone for free, please let me help you find a rescue that will take him. They will put the dog in a very loving foster home and pay for all the medical expenses. Once the dog is adoptable, they will find the perfect home for him. They do extensive applications and home visits and are very strict about where the dog goes...
If the vet thinks he may have MVD, then the only treatment is medical and dietary management because surgery won't help a dog with MVD.
At that point, you would have to just keep him on a strict protocol, and it's possible for him to live a normal life with proper care.
