My Emma was 2.9 lbs at 6 months, and she had a growth spurt at around 1 yr old. She is now almost 2 yrs old and almost 4.5 lbs.
My Miko was about 9 lbs at about 1 yr and he had a growth spurt at about that time. He is 4 yrs old now and 11 lbs.
I think the rule of thumb is to double the weight at 12 weeks, but the truth is that we never know if/when they will have a growth spurt.
