Agree. I do notice that there is often a greater number of those threads on the weekends. While I live in a town with a 24 hour emergency vet clinic, there are a far greater number of YT'ers that don't live near their vet, let alone an emergency clinic. Also it's easy for us to say "money isn't an issue" but when the clinic won't let you in the door without a $100 bill in hand, it is an issue to many.
While I agree that the vet should be the first call so often, I can't judge why it's not in many instances. What I like to see is people encouraging a vet call or visit while being supportive ("Please call your vet immediately and let us know what he says"). What I don't like to see is people being judgemental with their first reply ("Why in the world would you come online for help? What were you thinking? For heaven's sake, call your vet!"). I can't imagine how that would make someone in crisis feel.
