Guess it doesn't matter long as she gets home I found a chocolate lab puppy once, kept her overnight, the next day there were literally hundreds of flyers out for her. I'd have had to said I was blind to miss them.

Thought of something else.....ever see a lost dog's reaction when their owners show up? While that lab puppy was friendly and kissy to us....she went nuts when her owner showed up. They wouldn't have even needed proof she belonged them (or them to her)....it was obvious
I once found a french bulldog on the railroad tracks. ( Was very lucky as I normally did not walk along the tracks) poor little guy was laid dead still I thought he had gotten hit but it turned out he was ok. I kept him for a couple of days not know what to do with him and he would not eat and drank almost nothing. I finally called the humane society and they gave me a name to call him as there had been a report of one missing. I called his name and he perked up and came flying into the room and then you could see his little heart breaking as he looked around and no mommy or daddy was there was only me. I said yup I think this is their dog ( no tags on collar NUMPTIES!!) Got their name and number called them got their address and then took him round. He TOTALLY changed when he got home and saw his yard and mommy and daddy. He turned into a spastic cujo. LOL He attacked me the ungrateful thing. His owners were an older couple in the late 70's or so the guy started crying when he saw his dog I felt SO good. Then they insisted on giving me a reward for bringing him home I tried to say no but they insisted and gave me 20.00 I was REALLY happy to reunite the two of them with their dog though. The way he behaved without them and their reaction when he was home was reward enough when I reunited them. It is great to see such well loved dogs and owners.
