Zoey is having her spay today and she will have an IV. It's usuallly done to keep them hydrated because remember they haven't eaten from the previous night. It's also in case they do crash and need to be brought out faster. Plus they tent to give a bit of pain meds and antibiotics in there closer to the end of the surgery...so I was told. I had and IV when Lulu was spayed so I presume it's standard practice here in NY.
